Main Dish:

Kufta with Tahini Sauce


  • Instead of layered potatoe and tomatoe, you can chop potatoes, eggplants, zuchinni, onion and tomatoes. Or a 3 layer of sliced tomatoes.

Kufta with Tahini Sauce





2 pounds of ground 93% or more beef (you can use lamb as well) 


2 big potatoes 

1 onion

2 big tomatoes

1 lemon

1 parsley bunch

4 tbsp of tahini

Oils and Vinegars

Extra version olive oil

Baking and Spices

½ tsp black pepper, ground

1 tbsp salt

½ tsp whole spice, ground

¼ tsp cloves, ground

¼ tsp cardamom, ground


How to make it:

  • Finely chop the parsley and onion, mix with the ground beef and add the salt, pepper and whole spice. Spread it in a Pyrex.

  • Peel the potatoes and slice both the tomatoes and the potatoes, add salt, pepper and extra virgin olive oil and then layer them on top of the meat (I prefer to add the potatoes, then the tomatoes).

  • Put in the oven at 450 degrees for 45 minutes.

  • Meanwhile, you can prepare the tahini dressing (optional). Mix the lemon juice with the tahini sauce, add a little bit of water and some salt.

  • Pour the tahini sauce with lemon over the Kufta, 5 minutes before you are ready to serve it.
